Things are shakin’ up!
On Monday morning June 7th, there was a 3.6 magnitude earthquake that rattled the Los Angeles coast. Many were said to have felt the rumble…
But luckily there were no serious injuries or death! BUT, there have been a lot of quakes happening so it’s best to be prepared for any situations that could come your way! Also, make sure to get Earthquake Insurance on your home because your homeowner’s policy will not cover any earthquake damages…
First, you all should have an earthquake kit stored in the house for you or your family in any case of a disaster. Here’s a list of the essentials:
- Water: Have at least one gallon per person per day up to three days, and don’t forget your pets!
- Food: Canned meats, beans, fruits and vegetables that are ready-to-eat. Canned juices and soups, High energy foods like granola, peanut butter, trail mix and vitamins. Avoid foods like pasta and rice that requires a lot of water to prepare.
- First Aid: Assorted band-aids, gauze pads, safety pins, cleansing agents, sunscreen, non-prescription drugs such as pain relievers, scissors, tweezers, disinfectant towelettes, thermometer, and antiseptics.
- Tools and supplies: Flashlights and batteries are essential. You’ll also need cash or travelers checks, matches in something waterproof, aluminum foil, tape, pliers, a small fire extinguisher, toilet paper, and copies of all important documents such as passports and birth certificates
But most importantly, make sure your home or business is insured!
Remember that your homeowner’s policy WILL NOT cover earthquakes!
